QUESTION:

I am discontent with Christianity, because I do not believe that the Law could have been done away with. I have looked into Judaism, but am sure that I cannot find satisfaction there either, because I cannot deny Messiah. Where can I go, and how can I find true fulfillment?

ANSWER:

We started out in Christianity too. Over time, we became very discontent with the various church groups we attended. We began to stay at home and study the Scriptures on our own, to see just what the truth was. Yahweh (the Heavenly Father's Hebrew Name) revealed to us many errors in the church system, and the need to keep His Law.

It seems that at present you are searching out His law, and wanting to keep it, but not being quite sure how to go about it. We just want to encourage you: do not grow weary, and do not give up. Yahweh creates discontentment in our hearts sometimes to help us move on to better and richer things. Our life has been a constant journey of moving farther and farther away from the corruptions of Christianity's pagan worship system and nearer and nearer to Yahweh's desires. This is what Yahweh wants! He wants us to run the race faithfully, embracing whatever truths He reveals to us.

Something we have seen over time, though, is that many times assemblies and groups will let us down. Sometimes it will seem impossible to find anyone else who shares Scriptural beliefs. Rest assured that you do not need a "group" in order to do what Yahweh is calling you to do. All we need in order to keep His Laws are the Scriptures and a heart to obey Him.

There are many who step out of Christianity assuming that the Jews are keeping the Law, and so they go into Judaism. Let us caution you that the Jews appear outwardly to keep the Law, but in reality, their religion is based primarily upon what they call the "oral law", which is actually a whole myriad of man-made laws, many of which directly contradict or oppose the true Law. Judaism, just like Christianity, is very corrupted. Compare this to Matthew 23, which is Yahshua's (the Messiah's Hebrew name) thoughts on traditional Judaism.

Quite simply, if we want to be in obedience to Yahweh's instructions, we cannot "go mainstream". We can't be a part of mainstream Christianity or a part of mainstream Judaism. Both of these religious systems are being washed downstream. We must be willing to swim against the current, go against the flow, be willing to stand out and be different, and run the race with perseverance unto the end. We must be willing to obey Yahweh's commands even if we feel very alone in doing so. He will never fail us. He has scattered us over the face of the entire earth so that, though we may feel alone at times, we can shine as little lights to the whole world, revealing to the nations the power and truth of Yahweh, Yahshua, and His Word.

Elijah expressed the sentiment which perhaps we feel at times: "I have been very jealous for Yahweh Elohim of hosts, because the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword, and I, I ONLY AM LEFT, and they seek my life to take it away." (1 Kings 19:14) Yahweh assured him, though, in verse 18, that there were seven thousand left in Israel who held to the truth. Even though we may not know who those "seven thousand" are, and even though we may feel like we are on our own, we are not on our own. Yahshua is with us, and He preserves the truth amongst a remnant, of which He wishes our family and your family to be a part.

You are right; you cannot deny the Savior. True faith involves belief in Messiah and in the Law. Christianity is off balance because it stresses only Messiah, and a perverted "messiah" at that, for they teach that Messiah did away with the Law which is not true. (Matthew 5:17-19) Judaism is off balance because it places all its emphasis on good works; once again, perverted "good works" based, not really on Yahweh's Law, but on their own laws. The straight and narrow path, however, is not taken by many (Matthew 7:13-14), but it leads to true life, for it upholds genuine obedience to Yahweh's instructions and sincere belief in Him and His Son.
