QUESTION:

Does one have to be ordained to teach? Who gives out this permission? Do I have to have men lay hands on me in order to be ordained?

ANSWER:

Regarding ordination.... Quite simply, Yahweh ordains His own!

Who ordained Yahshua?

"And as He was walking in the Temple, there come to Him the chief preists and the scribes and the elders, and say unto Him, 'By what authority doest these things? And who gave Thee this authority to do these things?' " (Mark 11:27-28) "Then said Yahshua unto them, 'When ye have lifted up the Son of Adam, then shall ye know that I Am He, and that I do nothing of Myself, but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things. And He that sent Me is with Me; the Father hath not left Me alone, for I do always those things that please Him.' " (John 8:28-29)

Yahweh ordained (called and chose) Yahshua, and we all can see that the religious leaders for the most part payed no attention to Him. So we have only one choice to make. Do we desire to be called and chosen of the Father through the Son Yahshua the Messiah, or do we desire to be "ordained" of men, organizations, denominations, etc.? Yahweh calls His people, as ministering faithful followers of Messiah, to assist in anointing for healing, laying on of hands to receive the set-apart Spirit, and giving guidance if individuals are not exercising the fruits of the Spirit.

Who ordained the prophets?

"The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziyah King of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake." (Amos 1:1) Amos was "merely" a shepherd, but Yahweh called Him and used Him.

"Also, I heard the voice of Yahweh, saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I; send me.' And He said, 'Go and tell this people: Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not......' " (Isaiah 6:8-9)

"Then the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying, 'Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.' " (Jeremiah 1:4-5) Jeremiah had some misgivings about this, which he expressed in verse 6. "Then said I, 'Ah, Yahweh Elohim, behold, I cannot speak, for I am a child.' " Yahweh assured him though of his definite calling though, by saying, "Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee, thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith Yahweh.' Then Yahweh put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and Yahweh said unto me, 'Behold, I have put My words in thy mouth. See, this day I have set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms.....' " (Jeremiah 1:7-10)

Who ordained the disciples?

"And Yahshua came and spake unto them, saying, 'All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the set-apart Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.' " (Matthew 28:18-20) "But you shall receive power after that the set-apart Spirit is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto Me.... unto the uttermost parts of the earth." (Acts 1:8) Yahweh and Yahshua weren't concerned about giving legally binding "credentials" to His called out ones. If He had been, who would He have sent them to to receive such?

Who ordained Paul?

"Paul, an apostle of Yahshua Messiyah by the commandment of Elohim our Savior and the Master Yahshua Messiyah which is our hope." (1 Timothy 1:1) "Paul, an apostle of Yahshua Messiyah by the will of Elohim...." (2 Timothy 1:1) "Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, BUT by Yahshua Messiyah and Elohim the Father who raised Him from the dead" (Galatians 1:1) "For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Messiyah. But I certify unto you, brethren, that the glad news which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Yahshua Messiyah." (Galatians 1:10-12)

Paul, set apart by Messiyah for ministry, further exhorted about the qualifications for one ministering to the assembly. "This is a true saying: If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre, but patient, not a brawler, not covetous, one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity. For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the assembly of Yahweh? Not a novice, lest, being lifted up with pride, he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must have a good report of them which are without, lest he fall into reproach, and the snare of the devil. Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre, holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." (1 Timothy 3:1-9)

If the false teaching of the world can profess having a ministry, surely those adhering to the inspired Word in study and actions of obedience can be conducting Yahweh and Yahshua's ministry to the lost and misguided world. Praise Yah.... HalleluYah!

"Quench not the spirit." (1 Thessalonians 5:19) Man often wants to do just that, but Yahweh has a work for His called and chosen. Speak, teach, and live, leading others as the Spirit of Yahweh and Yahshua lead you. Just follow His leading, and worry not about man's ordination.
